The Nixon-Geiger Nuptials

This past weekend (Friday September 5 - Sunday September 7), I made the trek down to Staunton, VA to watch my best bud Erin get married to her fiance Mark. It's a long trip when you start up in Massachusetts, so I drove down the Thursday before the wedding and hung out with old roomate and other best bud Kat. On Friday, I picked Colin up from his LONG flight from Alaska...and we headed down to Staunton to see what was cooking...

Of course, due to the lack of flight availability from Fairbanks, we made it to the rehearsal JUST in time! (Thanks to my lead foot). So of course, when we got there...we did a bit of rehearsing...then headed out to rehearse eating...what we all do best.

The cuisine was alright, but apparently, Staunton restaurants use Easy-Bake Ovens to make their bread as you can see above. I dunno why they put them in little baking pans like that...but they sure presented quite a challenge.

The next morning, we all woke up to get Erin good and married. She insisted. She also looked absolutely beautiful, and it goes without saying that Mark is a lucky, lucky guy.

So after Erin and Mark sealed the deal, we proceeded to the fun part of the wedding...the reception. The shot above are two of my best friends from JMU...Erin (the bride) and Kat.

AND, we also rounded up all of the JMU alums to take a picture. As you can see, the majority are girls...which holds true to JMU...where the girls to guy ratio was 7:3 ...good times.

So, as you can imagine...after lots of food, garter/bouquet tossing, dancing, and of course...booze...we were all pretty pooped. But that didn't stop us from going out right after the wedding ended. Hah...we're JMU alums, it's how we roll. Maybe one day we'll grow out of that...but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Here's the man that travelled the furthest to see this blessed event...all the way from Fairbanks, Alaska. And like a trooper, he battled jet lag and although he had a lot of elements working against him...he still managed to have an awesome time (or so I'm told...haha).

So congratulations to the Geigers...Erin and Mark. I'm so happy that I got to be a part of your special day. I love you both...and remember these words of wisdom:

1. Patience is a virtue.
2. Always wipe front to back.
3. No excuses, play like a champion.
